i will burn this bridge
if you tell me again i am lost
maybe on water, you'll realize
there's no place to talk
one day, you'll feel so far away
all alone, begging for a ride back into town
you like to think you rolled the stone
and carried cross uphill broken bones
no pain, painted scars
one day, you'll feel so far away
all alone, begging for a ride back into town
you are my home
a place that has cast me into chrome
thank-you for coaxing me
i am your bones
and when i fret, you show me the ropes
thank-you for coaxing me
through the thick and the thin i've been
more cain than abel
when my soul shifts tectonics
i'll try to be the one you used to know
well it started with the delta blues
gracing memphis avenues
a child caught phenomenon
never nearing gone
the same old songs
vinyl, tape and sing-alongs
for the coin pushers ball
and the old town hall, where he sang
love my tender steamrollin' blues
well he sold his soul for microphone
plywood knees and broken bones
and mousse became his noose
nothing left to lose
but the same old songs
vinyl, tape and sing-alongs
for the coin pushers ball
and the old town hall, where he sang
love my tender steamrollin' blues
- collapse -i heard her shoes have carried around the earth
his leaving diamonds in winter
only to be crushed by the heat
of four slender naked feet
and that beat, told him he couldn't leave
that beat, cost her a lot of sleep
good grief, what happened to sunday mornings
and guilty pleasures
like getting high, no drink too dry
for a canadian wasteland
naked nights and traffic lights
swearing because it's so damn cold outside
we get by
we wanted to write you a song like this
a caricature you can sing for the kids
i'm sorry to those who have trust us
don't trust us
now i can see why you'd say it's my fault
but how can you sleep with such life in your lungs
say goodbye to scene and let go before you combust
guest stars late night shows
your face flashes in my dreams
when i watch alone
i can't sleep
cause you always find a way it seems
to the places
i never remember
where you and me would play
slow dancing
with some rock and roll
in stereo glow
a blinding red
that's threading through
all i see
all i see in you the one
i miss the sun
but the days must die
cause i miss the times
when you tethered me
and i tangled round and round in you
solemn we'll stay waiting
when we got all the time in the world
we'll waste it
i'm running roads alone
pass your castle stoned
and the signs that talk
say never never never
leave this house from home
where good time cyclones
tear it up, tear it loud
forever
solemn we'll stay waiting
when we got all the time in the world
we'll waste it together
she's running away
a beautiful girl too young for her age
and tomorrow, she's flying around the world again trying to find herself
never asking for help
unsynchronized hurt plagued our thoughts for what they're worth
i'd love you good but you left me here just like i knew you would
unsynchronized hurt plagued our thoughts for what they're worth
never cheek or tongue
let her run, let her run
consider this an emotional rescue, you save you and i'll save me
i don't mind crying, but it sure hurts the knees
she's still running farther away
away in a shell, now i bid you farewell
unsynchronized hurt plagued our thoughts for what they're worth
i'd love you good but you left me here just like i knew you would
unsynchronized hurt plagued our thoughts for what they're worth
never cheek or tongue
let her run, let her run
oh my darling baby don't you know
you are now no longer part of this song
i'd like to stay but i've waited far too long
we're unsynchronized and now nothing can go wrong
i saw you dancing in the tunnel
of the most glorious neon
the light struck your body
exposing a naked truth in yellow-pink hues
i see through to your fantasy world
casual prince
wherever he stops it all begins
casual
the bus a space to contemplate
your precious choreography
now you know i know your plans
and that won't stop your hands
late into the night
and you said i hope to see this day come
hope to see this day come
i hope to see this day come
i know i'll see this day come
casual prince
wherever he stops it all begins
casual
casual prince
a push for queen the king a kick
casual
and we surround you suddenly
an army of ego
jesters dancing all around hardly making sound
and you quietly say
i'm a man on a mission
man on a mission
i'm a man on mission
and the ladies love his ambition
i'm a man on a mission
man on a mission
no i'm not going to the moon
you know i'll come home soon
it's raining again
another band unnoticed
feeling heaviness in these clothes
and i'd hate to admit
the us is stripped
down to the barest tone
which i left in a jar
next to vintage guitars
i have no idea how we've escaped so slowly
i have no idea how we could save lost melodies
i miss you most
when you're near me now
a muzzle of memories
and i'll remember
promises and plans
and radiant rhythms in our hands
that slipped through the voids
now we talk just to toy
i have no idea how we've escaped so slowly
i have no idea how we could save lost melodies
dreaming under my tree
you can see the roads flow
i know somewhere of a river
and it's cold and running slow
what would it mean to go down
past the old tired town
there's nothing quite as nice
as a fool's paradise
i'll softly sing a song
where subtle words belong
and when the leaves begin to fall
i'll show you it all
what would it mean to go down
past the old tired town
there's nothing quite as nice
as a fool's paradise
listen for my call
when leaves begin to fall
i'll show you it all

and if i gave it my all
would i break through
break through the sky
and home to you
this ship sails tall among the clouds
there’s so much to dream about
what if dreams were true
we’ll float when it’s weary
store troubles behind the view
this ship sails strong across the world
across the bed of roses
across the ocean blue
we’ll float on forever
even when we’re through
and if i gave it my all
would i break through
i’ll bust down the doors
and come home to you
here’s to the sky
we’re already home
break through cruel world into space
i can only pedal so far
before my limbs go you should already know
it still hasn’t seemed that far
for this long breath has taken in time
but time is much to short
i’ll suffocate and stare, go limp and still care that i’ll
float on at least once more
shall we meet in the place
where i can’t see you and there is no darkness
and freedom is slavery
save me from my other side
did we forget a director
cameras will capture themselves
they are real criminals
and i’d rot in my own self
thinking of you
plead ignorance for innocence
city living and a county life
i’m locked up in my own neighborhood
and i don’t know why
i’d take a walk but i’ll just drive
if i left on foot i’d surely die
i’m loving lights, the sights and sounds
and despite one fact our city
it drowned
victory never tasted so cheap
if we paint it green, people believe
that two and two is five
and we need god to stay alive
ol’factory saluting us
soldiers of smoke, exhaust and red rust
i’d hate to say we’ve lost our grace
but remember how our city
it drowned
we’d still breathe underwater
nobody smiles or speaks
or even wanders in the streets
we’d still breathe underwater
it’s quiet down here
and people still live in fear
we’ll just breathe underwater
your front door is always locked
to keep you alive ‘till you’re old
the gentle flames from your fireplace
keeps you warm from the cold
you complain about everything
but always laugh in the end
you drink ‘till your last drop
and then you’ll drink again
then you smile
smile at me
it makes me forget about everything
like where i parked on this empty street
you smile at me i am yours
your clock strikes half past twelve
but you’re still up wanting more
you get up to grab your covers
and sleep the whole night on the floor
wait wait she ran to him
not going to lose another man
for something she did, he’ll never get rid
the way she moves when she can
three days he said to her
spent his time out in the cold
many have tried, too many lied
the greatest burden of all
making his way i see
driving so slowly
he rides his ride down low
notorious be his show
please please she ran to him
it must be something you heard
once she was through, he bid her adieu
for lack of a better word
tough love what could he do
anything to climb the wall
left her his heart back at the start
time to make another call
quiet now
say the things you meant to say to us, it’s fine
for every breath in diamonds
nothing lasts forever
a package wrapped with love you’ll see the heart
drawn askew
throw the papers out
bare it all for me
stare out to the see
later when the stars divide
it shines waves on the inside
picture clumsy panic
clumsy roots
i’m sure as buttons, it was due time to show
he didn’t like the news
so he went out to make his own
what he left was the life, the life that was left
echoing footprints with voices he kept
keeping the light, lighting the way
weighing the seconds that pushed everyday
leave all of your thoughts behind she said
it’s time to celebrate this red hour in harmony
let’s dance like we used to tonight
unaccompanied by our audience
he said
you can’t see the good in me
leave all of your thoughts behind he said
time to tame your crooked lip with fidelity
let’s try a new dance on point
dim the lights until you fall
you’ll fall
she said
you can’t see the good in me
or the good in anyone
if i held up a light, with my hand in the air
would your idle eye be sharp enough to see
that we’re meant to be together
hold me close in stormy weather
have you ever felt like this before
leave your sympathy at the door
- collapse -and yet another chance
a white dial and blue steel hands
will travel circling slow
for military band
sunlight pouring in
to my unconscious twin
i’ve always followed my heart
and i’ll never loose my grin
alien puppets a speed
he’ll never see what it needs
but maybe he’ll heed to what’s real
alien puppets a speed
black and white easy to read
in colour he’ll heed to what’s real
epitome of modern man
basking in a techno plan
he’s never read paperback
not even made in japan
a nonchalant mind-set
always defending the best
awakes early to stay up all night
and there ain’t no
no regrets
without a driver this bus is as good as lost
you can have the window seat if you want
it’s mostly just a sad view with nothing new
but i, need to show you the truth
it may seem strange, how life is a cunning maze
never know where you’re going, who’s right or wrong
behind closed doors, a mother worries endlessly
wondering if anyone will understand
why the world is covered in gold
after the rush the greedy pigs go home
lying about their stains
no matter how hard they try they never come out
it’s the same old talk
they’re pawning clocks
it may seem strange, how we’ll waste another day
pretending all the jargon stands for something real
behind closed doors, people watch for hours
convincing themselves they know
why the world is covered in gold
it may seem strange, our world has made the change
and anything that we do feeds the wildfires
behind closed doors, silence becomes disease
tease them if you please mister, you’ll never get her
look inside for answers as to why
the world is covered in gold
posting signs of anything, our lot for sale
while black hills catch white lighting
we’ll be up to tell the tale
she keeps her money underground
it’s that seller never found following down
some troubles trusting few
well that’s nothing really news worthy now
breathe
down down, a hundred shine, wishing goodbyes
please never tell me your story girl, keep it to yourself
watch mine disappear, like shifting confessions
why does it feel so cold, the water inside
doesn’t everyone have something to hide
seeker wears the badge, be careful who you talk to
you can talk to me, can’t you smell the graffiti
i’ve been there before where doors are made from floors
thirteen blocks high
it’s next to the machine where everyone waits
patiently in line
feel
posting signs of everything, with turning blind eyes
into the heart of memories, which i will whisper why
imagine all the world
is living that simple life
how long do you think it would take
to make her fall
and would you miss her at all
but everybody went west
it shook our ground so hard
her shadows upon on us and colours
are on guard
you are what you are
anyway to get by
don’t blame me ‘cause i tried
tried to get out of here
maybe sometime next year

- The Painter
once there lived a man ragged and grey
he scratched at the ground where the ocean lay
a symbol of peace, a symbol for fight
every grain of sand held curves of light
he was met by a crowd, who watched him grow
his images would fade but his teachings were sold
suddenly he stumbled, heading for the ground
he held up his hand and heard a sound
sorry you found out what it's all about
take my hand
it's written in the sand
the man was laid to rest under the marquee
by the coral reef
he drew upon the ground in a meaningful way
the head of a lion evolving away
as the people sat and stared the man began to pray
his outlook on life; hardly cliche
his prayers were answered to his delight
the world he left could read and write
hannah left me for the spy
who claimed that it was time
time to breathe in something new
something through and through
she never told me the truth
hannah told me one july
i'm sorry and said good bye
good bye to all the love we shared
she never seemed to care
she thought i wasn't aware
- collapse -rise and shine, it's a brand new day
beautiful how you feeling today
adorer, my everlasting light
let's fly away on a zephyr tonight
one calm day
all my worries washed away
as the waves crash the shore
all i ever wanted was more
your eyes make me see
and bring me to my ecstasy
will this day bring something new
bring it on 'cause i'm with you
no matter where, where we go
i don't mind, you should know
as long as i'm, i'm with you
the love we have will carry through
as i drive down this lonely street
imaging people i'd like to meet
the skies to threaten heading home in the rain
blinding are the headlights of an oncoming, oncoming train
there there, calm down, it'll be alright
you'll get that chance again someday, you will or you might
history repeats itself it comes and it goes
that's the only problem that nobody, nobody knows
and i float on these blue ocean waves
the lighthouse guides me away from the caves
the sunlight reminds me of my better days
but the sun sets in the morning
i've lost my ways
hello again
this coat she bares has worn off but
there's a calm relief from this facade
please sir
that wasn't who she ought to be so
paint her soul in the justly colours
i have the world on my shoulders
but in the end i'll be there
hello again
i've been waiting for this moment but
mistakes are all there waiting to be made
she's just a little girl
i wouldn't anticipate the cost
isn't a good heart worth being saved
hopefully she'll join
can't she wait just a little while
there's always tomorrow
hello again
this good heart has been coated over
i'd like to help
but she's already past
